Listen, my son, to your father’s instruction
and do not forsake your mother’s teaching. (Proverbs 1:8)
I was going to write today about the opportunity for parents that our enforced social distancing has brought about in terms of discipling our children at home. But I've just read this article about Derek Prime, who died at the weekend, written by his son Johnny.
It's a moving and helpful tribute to the impact a father had not just on his son, but on many, many others. So, rather than me write something, I'll leave you instead to read the article... (Make sure that you also watch the video of Derek giving a testimony on suffering at the bottom of the article - it is worth it's weight in gold)
Derek had a big influence on the UK church, by influencing many Pastors and writing many books. Our Daytime Growth Group worked through his book "A Good Old Age" last summer. Praise God for a good and faithful servant. And remember his family in their grief.

It was wonderful for us that you chose to use Johnny Prime‘s tribute to his Dad Derek on your blog on Wednesday. Derek Prime was a huge influence in my young life throughout my teenage years and early 20s in Edinburgh. His wisdom, teaching and pastor‘s heart were so much appreciated by so many. When I went to Brunei to teach he wrote to me every month to encourage me, he baptised me and married us. He was a dear friend and we feel sadness that he is gone but such joy that he is in Heaven with the Lord he loved so faithfully, hearing His “Well done good and faithful servant”.
