To read or listen to the news in these days is to become slightly confused at what us happening in the world. There's so much going on and much of it can unsettle us.
But amidst everything we can be thankful that God still reigns over the world. Our call as Christians is to remember his sovereignty and to live lives which point to him and the work Christ has accomplished on our behalf.
I was encouraged this week as I read an article about the TV presenter Dan Walker. As a christian he has faced all sorts of online abuse for his faith. He's also had questions leveled at him of how a christian can give a balanced view of the news. In his interview with the 'Metro' this week he had this to say about his faith.
"It (my faith in Christ) informs who I am and who I would like to be, where I’m going, the way I talk, the way I act, hopes, dreams, aspirations etc. It is a significant part of every day I live. If you are a Christian, that has an impact on your decisions, your language, the way you think and speak and go about your daily business. This world needs our public witness of Christ and the difference he makes in our lives."
Give thanks that God has placed Christians like Dan Walker in the public eye. Pray for him as he seeks to live for Christ in a hostile environment.
Let's also hear the challenge within Dan's words. This world needs Christians to witness about Christ. That's what the apostles were called to do by Jesus and it is what we are called to do in our daily lives.
