Monday Meditation

Today we come back to thinking about what we can pray for ourselves and each other. Last week we looked at a prayer Paul shared in Ephesians 1. Going on in the same letter we discover more things which he is praying for them... which we can lift out and use ourselves.

Here is Ephesians 3:14-19, and I've underlined the point of each prayer again:


"...I kneel before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.


So, Paul prays that they would keep trusting in Christ, and know how much Jesus loves them. Indeed he suggests that these two things are so unnatural to us, that we need God's power to make them a reality! That's an encouragement if you are struggling in your faith at the moment - in that it's not down to your effort. You need God's help.

So - why not pray this prayer for yourself and for others today?

They are great prayers to pray in our current circumstances.

Then take a look at the next two verses (Ephesians 3:20-21) and take confidence that God will answer this prayer!
