We're changing our pattern this week, to spend time reflecting on events of the first Easter Week. As a point of focus we will work our way through the rich lyrics of a familiar hymn, written by Isaac Watts.
So - do, read through the words of the first verse below:
When I survey the wondrous cross
Oh which the Prince of glory died
My richest gain I count but loss
And pour contempt on all my pride
If you've time - perhaps look at Philippians 3:4b-9
We so easily revert to thinking that we contribute to our salvation.
No. Otherwise, why did the Prince of glory go to the cross?
Spend time surveying the wondrous cross in scripture.
Then turn to prayer in confession (pouring contempt on your pride) and thanksgiving (marvelling that the Prince of glory willingly went to the cross for you).
